Ear, Nose and Throat

We provide a local comprehensive ENT service to adult and paediatric patients to North Derbyshire and surrounding areas which are timely and readily accessible to patients delivering high quality effective care. Our consultant led ENT Service is held at Thornbrook Surgery in Chapel-En-Le-Frith, High Peak and Chinley Surgery, Chinley, High Peak . Our visiting Consultants run several clinics a month. The waiting time for a new patient appointment is 2 to 4 weeks.

Our patient feedback is very positive

We can provide some procedures in clinic offering patients a choice of a comprehensive “one stop” service such as Suction and Epley Manoeuvre. Patients that require surgery are referred under the NHS to the Claremont Hospital in Sheffield or to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital Sheffield.

Mr Andrew Parker MBChB (Leeds) DLO ChM (Bristol) FRCS Eng FRCS Ed LLM

Mr Parker is a Consultant ENT Surgeon in the NHS at The Peak Medical Practice, Hope Valley, Derbyshire and Thornbrook Surgery Thornbrook Road, Chapel-En-Le-Frith, with successful private practice at Claremont Private Hospital in Sheffield.

Mr Parker bases his professional advice and opinions on his extensive clinical experience and relevant published research findings. He qualified as a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with honours at Leeds University in 1981 and underwent ENT training in Leeds, Bristol and Sheffield gaining Fellowships to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (1986) and England (1987). Mr Parker obtained a Master of Surgery Degree for Higher Research in to the optimal treatment of Deafness/Glue Ear in Children from Bristol University in 1991 and holds a Diploma in Laryngology and Otology at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Mr Parker has been Programme Director for the North Trent ENT Training Rotation and has previously been a Lead Clinician for Head & Neck Cancer at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield. He is a Member of the Court of Examiners at the Royal College of Surgeons of England for the DOHNS, MRCS and former DLO examinations and has been an external adviser for the NHS Ombudsman

Mr Parker undertakes medico-legal work at Consultant level since 1992 and following the introduction of the Civil Justice Reforms he has acted as a joint expert witness when asked to do so. He is a Law Society checked expert and has undergone appropriate training in medico-legal assessment and report writing.

Ravi

Mr Ravi Thevasagayam FRCSEd FRCS (ORL-HNS)

Ravi Thevasagayam (Mr Ravi) is a Paediatric ENT Surgeon. He has been a consultant at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital since 2008 and became the Departmental Lead for ENT there in 2015. He has an interest in Paediatric Airway Surgery, Sleep disordered Breathing, Drooling therapy, Vocal Cord Dysfunction and Reflux disease as well as General Paediatric Otolaryngology. His adult practice includes Adult Airway Surgery, Sinus Surgery and Rhinoplasty Surgery. He specialises in Otolaryngology and works out of The Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Sheffield Childrens Hospital.

He is the regional network lead for paediatric ENT and is also interested in human factors and resilience in the workplace.

Ravi is the Associate Secretary to the British Association for Paediatric Otolaryngology (BAPO).
