Since 2008, we have provided consultant-led Rheumatology services to the High Peak and surrounding areas. The service is currently located at Thornbrook Surgery in Chapel-En-Le-Frith and Chinley Surgery in Chinley.
In February 2020 we also began to provide Rheumatology services to patients from Cheshire. The Cheshire service is currently located in Macclesfield.
Our Sheffield-based visiting consultants hold several clinics a month and the current waiting times for appointments is between 4 to 6 weeks.
Standard investigations including X-rays are done locally and complex investigations are arranged in Sheffield. We host local blood clinics for the monitoring of medications for patients in Derbyshire and for Cheshire patients on medication we work closely with the patients GP’s.
The team is supported by a Pharmacist and a Rheumatology Clinical Nurse Specialist who provide reviews and education appointments alongside the consultants.
We have received excellent feedback about the service from our referring GP’s and patients.
Our Consultants
We are local, well-established Rheumatology Consultants who work well as a team. We provide general rheumatology services and a wide range of specialist services including early arthritis, spondyloarthritis, connective tissue disease, adolescent rheumatology, psoriatic arthritis and crystal arthropathy.
Dr Mohammed Akil
Dr Akil MD LRCP MRCS FRCP qualified from Damascus in 1986. His specialist interest is in connective tissue diseases.
Dr Rachael Kilding
Dr Kilding MBChB MD FRCP qualified from Sheffield in 1995. Her specialist interest is in connective tissue diseases.
Dr Lisa Dunkley
Dr Dunkley MBChB FRCP qualified from Manchester in 1996. Her specialist interests are spondyloarthritis and psoriatic arthritis.
Dr Kar-Ping Kuet
Dr Kuet MBChB FRCP qualified from Sheffield in 2004. Her specialist interest is in connective tissue diseases.
Dr Rachel Tattersall
Dr Tattersall MBChB FRCP PhD qualified from Sheffield in 1995. Her specialist interest is in paediatric, adolescent and young adult rheumatology.
